Welcome to our on-line acoustic calculator. We trust you will find the tool to be very useful.
This calculator allows you to estimate the reverberation time (RT) for individual room types in specific locations within different buildings.
Just choose your building type, room function and enter the room volume (m³), in addition to selecting your desired internal surface finishes and materials¹. Upon entering this data, the calculator gives you the predicted Tmf RT² with and without a Sto acoustic system and an indication of the amount of m² of the Sto acoustic solution required to bring the RT to the desired value.
¹Choices of ceiling types are available to choose from and comparisons will be made against Sto options.
²The calculations use the Tmf RT (mid-frequency reverberation time) and is measured in seconds.
Intended use
The calculator is not intended to replace the expertise of a trained acoustician. The tool has been developed to assist architects, designers, acoustic applicators, building contractors and building owners with their initial investigations into an acoustic requirement.
This calculator does not deal with issues of room to room sound transfer (sound attenuation).
By using the calculator, you can calculate the RT in specific room areas using predefined, known material characteristics. We have included the most common types of internal space likely to need an acoustic solution. If you fail to find an application area suited for your purpose please contact Sto or a professional acoustician for further help.
Based upon the data the user inputs regarding the intended space, the calculator will highlight systems within the Sto acoustic range that meet their required and/or recommended RT, or fulfil existing, predefined legal requirements.
For more complex rooms outside of the scope of this calculator, please contact Sto via acoustics.uk@stoeu.com, where we will be delighted to introduce you to a professional acoustician local to the job site or your working base.
